JOHN "JUWAN" DEXTER BARING
Principal Interior Designer
Juwan has been immersed in the world of interior design for 10 years. After graduating with a degree in Interior Design at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in 2011, he worked as a junior designer at Grupo Santamaria Interior Designers, and shortly got promoted as material and design concept director.
In 2013, he ranked 5th place in the Interior Designer Licensure Exam, started doing freelance work, and established VERO a year later.
A discerning and empathetic designer, Juwan believes that great design fosters positive emotions and tells a story. It speaks, it communicates, it flows, and it moves. Ultimately, great design intends to make lives better and more comfortable, solving both tangible and intangible problems.
Juwan’s passion extends to molding young minds and future designers. He taught design in PUP (2014 – 2015), Mapua University (2014 – 2019), and De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde (2016 – 2020), and in ArcStudio Review Center (2016) in Cebu.
As an educator, he desires to educate more people on the importance of livable designs and correct the misconception that interior design is only for the rich. On the contrary, good interiors aim for practical, sustainable, and timeless design solutions. Thus, his designs are always reflective of his clients’ needs, welfare, and yes, even budget.
Although knowledgeable in different styles and trends, he personally prefers minimalistic and functional design styles along the lines of Bauhaus, Scandinavian, and Japanese minimalism. He finds beauty in simplicity, practicality, and functionality.
Juwan dreams of championing Filipino design to the world – a style that considers our climatic, topographic, and geographic conditions and limitations and incorporating the unique Filipino culture, arts, and character into the design.
ARCHIE MARQUEZ
Principal Interior Designer
Archie graduated from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in 2010 with a degree in Interior Design. He has been working as an interior designer for 10 years. Early in his professional career, he worked as a senior interior designer at Grupo Santamaria Interior Designers, and later on worked at Design Hirayama + Quesada where he honed his design and analytical skills through experiences in concept brainstorming, 3D modeling, material selection, and construction fieldwork.
For Archie, great design entails seeing different design elements and principles combined in a space. Every design element has its own purpose and contributes to the overall design that can address the needs of the space and improve the mood or energy of the people who come into the space.
He describes his design style as modern and eclectic and believes that his role as a designer is to improve people’s lives. This means understanding the design requirements and addressing issues that will help develop designs fit for the client, designs that are timeless and beautiful yet livable.
When working on a project, Archie pours his energy into capturing the right concept and proper floor plan for the client. He enjoys seeing his designs turn into reality during the construction process – a taxing but very fulfilling process.
A certified foodie and travel enthusiast, Archie’s dream is to take on a restaurant and 5-star hotel project.
